Siena Flat Sheet Set - White
A sheet set: one flat sheet with two matching cuffed pillowcases, in white 400 thread count long-staple cotton sateen, with the Siena geometric border embroidered white on white along the sheet header and the pillowcase cuffs. Presented in a gift box.
Description
A sheet set of one flat sheet and two matching cuffed pillowcases. The Siena border shows where it is meant to: along the header when the sheet is turned down over the quilt, and along the opening cuff of each pillowcase.
White on white is the quiet version of Siena. It brings structure to a plain bed without introducing a second colour, which makes it the one to choose when the bed is already carrying pattern elsewhere.
About the embroidery
The embroidery is worked in colourfast viscose rayon satin stitch.
On flat sheets and cuffed pillowcases the embroidered panel is cut, embroidered and folded before it is sewn to the piece, so the border is placed against a known edge rather than stitched into a finished sheet. On tailored pillowcases the border is worked into the face and framed by the flange stitching.
Iron the embroidery on the reverse at a medium temperature. Avoid optical brighteners and fabric softeners.

Fabric & construction
The embroidered header
The header is cut as its own panel, 270mm deep, embroidered while it is flat, then folded in half and sewn onto the sheet body. Working this way means the stitch is placed against a known edge rather than a moving one, so the geometric border sits parallel to the fold on every sheet rather than drifting by a few millimetres. The pillowcase cuffs are made the same way.
White on white
Tone on tone embroidery is harder to get right than a contrast border, because there is no colour to carry the pattern. It has to be read through the light instead, which is what suits a geometric repeat to it: the stitch direction changes across the pattern, so the border shifts as the light moves rather than sitting flat. On a plain white bed it adds structure without adding anything to the palette.
There is no colour carrying this border. It is read entirely through the way the stitch catches the light.

Common questions
What is included in the set?
One flat sheet with the embroidered header and two matching cuffed pillowcases at 75 x 50 cm, presented in a gift box. The set is complete as it comes. Fitted sheets are sold separately so you can match the depth of your own mattress.
Will white embroidery on white actually show?
Yes, but as texture rather than as pattern. The satin stitch sits proud of the sateen and its direction changes across the geometric repeat, so the border catches the light differently from the cloth around it. It reads clearly across a made bed and becomes more obvious the closer you get. If you want the pattern to read as colour from across the room, the Blu colourway does that instead.
Where does the embroidery sit?
Along the header of the flat sheet, which is the band that shows when the sheet is turned down over the quilt, and along the opening cuff of each pillowcase. Both are embroidered as separate flat panels before being sewn to the piece, which keeps the border parallel to the fold rather than drifting.
Which sizes are available?
The flat sheet comes in Queen at 255 x 275 cm and King at 285 x 275 cm. Both include the same two matching cuffed pillowcases at 75 x 50 cm.
