Fabric & construction

The weave

Woven in Turkey from a bamboo and cotton blend on a jacquard loom, so the chevron is built into the structure of the cloth rather than printed onto it. A small band is woven above the diagonal within the patterned border. The border is scaled to the piece: 40mm on the hand towel, deeper on the bath towel and bath sheet. The long edges are woven selvedges, so there is no raw edge to fray.

Bamboo cotton

These are a bamboo and cotton blend rather than pure cotton, and they do not develop the smell cotton towels can. They dry out between uses instead of holding damp in the pile, which matters most on a hand towel that is used many times a day.

Care

Machine wash warm

Wash at 30–40°C with a mild liquid detergent. Wash new towels before first use.

No fabric softener

Softener leaves a coating on the pile that repels water, so the towel gradually stops absorbing.

Tumble dry low

Tumble on low to medium, or line dry. Shake the towel out before drying to lift the pile.

What is the difference between the Chevron and Cloud designs?
The pattern woven into the end border. Chevron is a diagonal with a small band worked above it. Cloud is a finer all-over figure with a satin band between the border and the pile. Both are Flaxfield designs on the same bamboo cotton cloth, in the same colours.
Can I mix Chevron and Cloud in one bathroom?
Yes. They are woven from the same cloth in the same colours, so the difference sits in the border rather than the towel. Using one design for bath towels and the other for hand towels is a common way to do it.
Do the edges fray or curl?
The long edges are woven selvedges rather than cut and stitched, so there is no raw edge to fray and nothing to rope up in the wash. The ends are hemmed below the woven border.
