Description
On a King bed, white emphasises proportion above all else. The extended width of the pillowcases allows the flange to sit in a continuous line across the head of the bed, making the structure more apparent without relying on contrast or colour.
Without tonal variation to carry the detail, the composition depends entirely on alignment and balance. The result is deliberate and resolved, where the scale of the bed and the precision of the pillowcases work together as a single element.

Fabric & construction
The pillowcase
The Classique pillowcases are cut from 400TC single-ply long-staple cotton sateen and sized at 50 × 75cm for a standard Australian pillow insert, 50 × 90cm for King, and 65 × 65cm for European. A top-stitched flange runs close to the embroidered border on all four sides, adding structure to the perimeter without bulk. The envelope closure sits on the reverse, leaving the front uninterrupted. The pillowcase softens progressively with each wash while holding its shape over time.
The embroidery
Two parallel satin-stitch lines in colourfast white viscose rayon thread run along all four sides of the pillowcase, meeting at each corner in a defined corner motif. On the longer king format the tonal border has more room to read, the stitch catches the light across a wider surface, making the design more apparent than on a standard pillowcase.
On a king pillow, the bordered design has more presence. The longer size shows the embroidery at its full extent.

Care
Wash cold or warm
30–40°C on a gentle cycle. Use liquid detergent only as powder detergents and fabric softeners coat the cotton fibres and gradually dull the sateen surface and reduce its natural breathability over time.
Tumble dry medium
Remove while still slightly damp. The sateen surface smooths naturally as the fabric cools, reducing the need for ironing. Avoid over-drying as heat-set creases are harder to remove than those from line drying.
Improves with washing
Long-staple cotton settles into the weave with each wash, becoming progressively smoother and softer over time. The viscose rayon embroidery thread is colourfast and maintains its depth wash after wash.

What size insert should I use in a Classique King pillowcase?
The Classique King pillowcase measures 50 × 90 cm and should be used with a King pillow insert made for this longer format. Avoid substantially oversizing the insert, as too much filling can distort the flange and pull the embroidered border out of line.
Can I use King pillowcases together with standard ones?
Yes, and it is a common way to build the bed: King pillowcases lying at the back for width, standard tailored pillowcases in front. Because everything is cut from the same cloth with the same border, the two proportions read as one arrangement.
