Description
A fitted sheet is the piece of bed linen nobody looks at and everybody notices when it fails. This one is cut for standard Australian mattresses up to 35cm deep, with elastication running the full way around rather than only at the corners, so it holds tension evenly instead of lifting at the foot of the bed.
The seams are French seamed, which encloses the raw edges inside the seam itself. It is a slower finish than an overlocked edge, and it leaves nothing inside the sheet to fray.
Measuring your mattress
Measure from the base of the mattress to its highest point, including any built-in pillow top. If you use a removable topper, measure with the topper in place.
Up to 35cm takes a standard fitted sheet. Up to 43cm takes a deep sided fitted sheet.
Finished sizes carry a tolerance of +10 / -5mm and no allowance has been made for fabric shrinkage.

Fabric & construction
The corners
Every box corner is French seamed, which encloses the raw edge inside the seam rather than overlocking it and leaving it exposed. It takes two passes on a single needle lockstitch: stitch, turn the seam sharp, stitch again. An overlocked corner takes one pass, and it is where a fitted sheet usually gives way, because the exposed edge frays and the corner loses its square. The woven brand and care label is set inside that French seam, 7cm from the bottom edge, so nothing is stitched through the sleeping surface.
The elastic
10mm knitted non-twist elastic, tunnelled into the hem in a single operation rather than stitched on top of it. Non-twist matters more than it sounds: flat elastic that has rolled inside its casing pulls unevenly and drags the sheet off the corner, which is what people are describing when they say a sheet will not stay on. Our specification also calls for elastic rated for commercial laundering, a higher recovery standard than domestic elastic, because the same sheet goes to hotels.
