Description
European pillowcases establish the vertical structure of the bed. In white, this reads as a clean backdrop, allowing the layers in front to sit forward without interruption.
The scale of the square format holds the composition upright, giving the bed height and proportion without introducing contrast. Everything sits against it, but nothing competes with it.

Fabric & construction
The pillowcase
The Classique pillowcases are cut from 400TC single-ply long-staple cotton sateen and sized at 50 × 75cm for a standard Australian pillow insert, 50 × 90cm for King, and 65 × 65cm for European. A top-stitched flange runs close to the embroidered border on all four sides, adding structure to the perimeter without bulk. The envelope closure sits on the reverse, leaving the front uninterrupted. The pillowcase softens progressively with each wash while holding its shape over time.
The embroidery
Two parallel satin-stitch lines in colourfast white viscose rayon thread run along all four sides of the pillowcase. The surrounding flange is top-stitched just outside the embroidery, the only euro pillowcase in the Classique range with this construction. The tonal white thread reveals itself through the raised stitch and the light that crosses it, while the flange gives the square format the same structured perimeter as the tailored pillowcases and quilt cover.

Care
Wash cold or warm
30–40°C on a gentle cycle. Use liquid detergent only as powder detergents and fabric softeners coat the cotton fibres and gradually dull the sateen surface and reduce its natural breathability over time.
Tumble dry medium
Remove while still slightly damp. The sateen surface smooths naturally as the fabric cools, reducing the need for ironing. Avoid over-drying as heat-set creases are harder to remove than those from line drying.
Improves with washing
Long-staple cotton settles into the weave with each wash, becoming progressively smoother and softer over time. The viscose rayon embroidery thread is colourfast and maintains its depth wash after wash.
Common questions
Why is this one called the bordered European pillowcase?
The White Euro has a top stitched flange surrounding the embroidered border, making it the only European pillowcase in the Classique range with this construction. The flange gives the square pillow more structure and allows the tonal white satin stitch to be defined through shape and light rather than colour contrast.
Can the White Euro be used with a coloured Classique set?
Yes, and it is the most flexible euro in the range for that reason. Standing behind Ebony, Navy or Pewter pillowcases it gives the back layer height without adding a second run of colour, which keeps a strongly bordered bed from becoming busy.
Is the White Euro noticeably different from a plain white pillowcase?
The difference is in the construction rather than the colour. The top stitched flange, the four-sided border and the white satin stitch are read through texture and light, so the pillow stays entirely white while still showing the detail of how it is made.
