Woven Alpaca Throws

Crafted in the Peruvian highlands from baby alpaca and alpaca-wool fibres. Each throw is woven, not knitted, for a cleaner drape and lasting structure. Lightweight, lanolin-free, and designed for daily use across every season.

Why alpaca outperforms wool

The fibre science
0 Lanolin content

Alpaca contains no lanolin, the compound in sheep's wool that causes irritation, making it naturally gentler on sensitive skin.

FIBRE WALL — MAGNIFIED WOOL — SCALY, LANOLIN-COATED ALPACA — SMOOTH, LANOLIN-FREE
Hollow Fibre structure

Each alpaca fibre is partially hollow, creating natural insulation that traps warmth while allowing air to circulate.

FIBRE CROSS-SECTION HOLLOW CORE TRAPS WARM AIR · ALLOWS AIRFLOW
Resists pilling Fibre behaviour

Alpaca fibres have a smooth surface structure that resists the friction-caused bobbling that affects wool and synthetic blends. The surface stays clean and even with regular use.

100% Baby Alpaca — First shear Selva Woven Baby Alpaca Throw

Defined by softness and refinement. First-shear baby alpaca has a finer micron count than standard alpaca, resulting in a softness closer to cashmere. The body is woven in twill, finished with a basket-weave border constructed separately and mitred at all four corners.

89% Alpaca, 11% Wool — Bouclé weave Andes Bouclé Alpaca Throw

Defined by texture and presence. The addition of wool gives the cloth structure, forming a softly looped bouclé surface. Longer in proportion than the Selva, finished with a 120mm knotted fringe at both ends, formed directly from the warp threads of the loom.

Frequently asked

Is alpaca warmer than wool?

Yes, for its weight. Alpaca's hollow fibre core provides excellent insulation without the density of wool. A baby alpaca throw insulates more efficiently than a heavier merino blanket.

Can alpaca be used year-round?

Yes. The same hollow fibre that retains warmth also allows airflow, so it insulates without trapping excess heat.

What is the difference between the Selva and Andes?

Selva is 100% baby alpaca. Softer and smoother, with a clean twill weave and mitred border. Andes is an alpaca-wool bouclé. More textured with a looped surface and knotted fringe. Choose Selva for softness and Andes for texture and visual weight.

Is alpaca suitable for people with wool allergies?

Alpaca contains little to no lanolin, the compound in wool that commonly causes irritation. It is not completely allergen-free, but is generally better tolerated.

What size suits a queen or king bed?

Selva (160 × 200 cm) sits neatly folded across the foot of a queen or king. Andes (150 × 240 cm) has a longer drop, making it suitable for both beds and sofas.

How do I care for an alpaca throw?

Hand wash gently in cool water with a mild wool detergent. Do not wring or tumble dry. Lay flat to dry to maintain the fibre structure and the shape of the weave.
