Title
Description

This is the white bedding we have supplied to boutique hotels and resorts for close to twenty years, in the form it is used there: a narrow border, a clean face, and nothing on the front of the cover to catch or interrupt.

The border is deliberately restrained. It defines the edge of the bed without drawing attention to itself, which is why it sits comfortably under a bedspread or a throw rather than competing with one.

What's included

Each set includes one bordered quilt cover with a concealed button closure, and a matching pair of bordered pillowcases.

The same mitred border runs on the quilt cover and both pillowcases. Border width and pillowcase closure differ by range and are set out in the specifications below.

The border

The border is made before it goes anywhere near the cover. Cut pieces are turned through a 45 degree double fold band folder, the mitres are stitched, then the corners are turned out and pressed. Only then is the finished border laid onto the cover and top stitched through all layers, 1mm in from the folded edge. It is a five stage operation to produce 35mm of finished width, and it is why the border lies flat and holds a true corner rather than rippling along its length.

The closure

Concealed buttons on a placket, 18mm and plain, centred and spaced at 200mm so the opening pulls evenly across its width rather than gathering in the middle. Each button is locked off so the thread cannot unravel. The brand and care label is set inside the placket hem rather than on a side seam, so nothing sits against you while you sleep.

The border is held by folders and guides rather than pins. No pins or staples are permitted anywhere in the factory, so no metal can find its way into a finished piece.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in the set?
One bordered quilt cover and two bordered pillowcases at 50 x 75 cm, all carrying the same 35mm mitred border. The quilt cover closes with concealed buttons on a placket; the pillowcases have an envelope closure. Fitted and flat sheets are sold separately.
What is a mitred border, and why does it matter?
A mitred border is joined at the corners on a 45 degree angle so it turns cleanly instead of one side overlapping the other. It takes longer to make and leaves no bulk at the corner, which is why the border lies flat rather than lifting. Ours is 35mm finished, top stitched 1mm in from the folded edge, and the same border runs on the quilt cover and both pillowcases.
Which sizes are available?
Queen at 210 x 210 cm and King at 245 x 210 cm, both made to a tolerance of plus or minus 5mm on the finished measurements.
Why a concealed placket rather than exposed buttons?
The buttons sit behind a folded placket rather than in a visible row, so the face of the cover is unbroken and nothing catches on the sheet beneath it. The buttons are also protected from direct wear in the wash. On this cover they are 18mm and plain, spaced at 200mm so the opening pulls evenly across its width.
