Description
Pewter sits comfortably across the larger surface of a King bed, where its warmer tone introduces depth without relying on contrast. The length of the pillowcases allows subtle variation in the sateen to become more visible, giving the bed a more dimensional finish.
Across a wider setting, it reads as layered rather than flat, adding interest while maintaining a restrained palette.

Fabric & construction
The pillowcase
The Classique pillowcases are cut from 400TC single-ply long-staple cotton sateen and sized at 50 × 75cm for a standard Australian pillow insert, 50 × 90cm for King, and 65 × 65cm for European. A top-stitched flange runs close to the embroidered border on all four sides, adding structure to the perimeter without bulk. The envelope closure sits on the reverse, leaving the front uninterrupted. The pillowcase softens progressively with each wash while holding its shape over time.
The embroidery
Two parallel satin-stitched lines in colourfast white rayon thread run along all four sides of the pillowcase, meeting at each corner in a defined corner motif. On the longer king pillowcase the tonal border has more room to read, the stitch catches the light across a wider surface, making the design more apparent than on a standard pillowcase.
On a king pillow, the bordered design has more presence. The longer format shows the embroidery at its full extent.

Care
Wash cold or warm
30–40°C on a gentle cycle. Use liquid detergent only as powder detergents and fabric softeners coat the cotton fibres and gradually dull the sateen surface and reduce its natural breathability over time.
Tumble dry medium
Remove while still slightly damp. The sateen surface smooths naturally as the fabric cools, reducing the need for ironing. Avoid over-drying as heat-set creases are harder to remove than those from line drying.
Improves with washing
Long-staple cotton settles into the weave with each wash, becoming progressively smoother and softer over time. The viscose rayon embroidery thread is colourfast and maintains its depth wash after wash.
Common questions
Can I layer King pillowcases with European pillowcases?
Yes. European pillows can sit behind the longer King pillows to add height at the head of the bed. Because the Classique pieces use the same white cotton sateen and embroidery construction, the two proportions work together without introducing a different fabric or finish.
Is the Pewter thread the same across the Classique range?
The same Pewter embroidery colour is specified throughout the collection, so the King pillowcases, tailored pillowcases, quilt cover and sheet set are designed to coordinate.
Can King pillowcases be used on a Queen bed?
They can. A King pillowcase measures 50 × 90 cm, so on a Queen bed it will extend past the width of the mattress at the back. Some people prefer that fuller look, while a pair of tailored pillowcases at 50 × 75 cm sits within the width.
