Classique Tailored Pillowcases - Pewter
The Classique Tailored Pillowcase in Pewter is cut from 400TC long-staple cotton sateen with dual pewter satin-stitch embroidery. The soft coloured thread brings warmth and depth to the white ground, an understated colourway that complements both warm and cool bedroom palettes.
Description
Pewter carries a warmer depth than traditional grey, with a tone that sits closer to mineral and metal than flat colour. The surface of the sateen allows subtle variation across the fabric, giving the bed a more dimensional finish.
It pairs naturally with softer materials and neutral palettes, where the colour adds interest without relying on contrast. The effect is layered and considered, rather than sharp or defined.

Fabric & construction
The pillowcase
The Classique pillowcases are cut from 400TC single-ply long-staple cotton sateen and sized at 50 × 75cm for a standard Australian pillow insert, 50 × 90cm for King, and 65 × 65cm for European. A top-stitched flange runs close to the embroidered border on all four sides, adding structure to the perimeter without bulk. The envelope closure sits on the reverse, leaving the front uninterrupted. The pillowcase softens progressively with each wash while holding its shape over time.
The embroidery
Two parallel satin-stitch lines in colourfast viscose rayon thread run along all four sides of the front face, meeting at each corner in a defined corner motif. The surrounding flange is top-stitched just inside the embroidery so the two elements frame the face together. When the bed is made up, the tailored pillowcases continue the bordered embroidery from the quilt cover as a cohesive, unbroken design.
Pewter sits where grey meets warmth. On white sateen, the border reads quietly but precisely.

Care
Wash cold or warm
30–40°C on a gentle cycle. Use liquid detergent only as powder detergents and fabric softeners coat the cotton fibres and gradually dull the sateen surface and reduce its natural breathability over time.
Tumble dry medium
Remove while still slightly damp. The sateen surface smooths naturally as the fabric cools, reducing the need for ironing. Avoid over-drying as heat-set creases are harder to remove than those from line drying.
Improves with washing
Long-staple cotton settles into the weave with each wash, becoming progressively smoother and softer over time. The viscose rayon embroidery thread is colourfast and maintains its depth wash after wash.
Common questions
Do the Pewter pillowcases have to be used with the matching quilt cover?
No. Because every Classique colourway is made on the same white cotton sateen, Pewter can also be used with White or another restrained Classique colourway. Mixing the embroidery colours changes the emphasis while keeping the underlying cloth and construction consistent.
How should Classique pillowcases be washed?
Wash at 30–40°C on a gentle cycle. Use a mild liquid detergent and rinse well. Avoid fabric softeners, bleach and optical brighteners, as repeated use can leave residues or affect the finish of the cotton sateen.
Do the pillowcases need to be ironed?
Cotton sateen presses well, and ironing the flange while the fabric is slightly damp gives the border a crisper edge. If you prefer not to iron, removing the pillowcases from the line or dryer promptly and smoothing them flat keeps the sateen even.
