Classique White Quilt Cover Set

The Classique White quilt cover set is defined entirely through construction. White satin stitch sits on white cotton sateen, creating a frame through elevation rather than contrast. The embroidery runs down both sides and across the base, with corner motifs resolving each junction. The pillowcases complete the structure across all four edges. The detail is there, it works through light, not colour.

Description

White establishes the bed as a single, uninterrupted surface. Across the full scale of the quilt cover, the tone allows proportion and alignment to take precedence, rather than colour.

It works as a foundation, holding the composition together while allowing other elements to sit forward if introduced. The effect is controlled, balanced and deliberately minimal.

The cover

The Classique quilt cover is cut from 400TC single-ply long-staple cotton sateen, smooth and light-catching without the heaviness of multi-ply fabrics. A 7.5cm flange is top-stitched on all four sides, adding structure and drape to the cover on the bed. The hidden button closure sits at the top, keeping the front face clean. The cover softens progressively with each wash while holding its shape over time.

The embroidery

With no colour contrast, the detail is carried through stitch height and density. The embroidery sits along the sides and base only, allowing the top edge to remain clean. Each corner is individually resolved, maintaining clarity where the lines meet. The pillowcases extend this approach across all four sides. The raised satin stitch catches light differently across the day. The embroidery is more visible in natural light, more recessive in low light making it a finish that changes with the room rather than asserting itself against it.

It's not about contrast here, it's about how the detail is built.

Wash cold or warm

30–40°C on a gentle cycle. Use liquid detergent only — powder detergents and fabric softeners coat the cotton fibres and gradually dull the sateen surface and reduce its natural breathability over time.

Tumble dry medium

Remove while still slightly damp. The sateen surface smooths naturally as the fabric cools, reducing the need for ironing. Avoid over-drying — heat-set creases are harder to remove than those from line drying.

Improves with washing

Long-staple cotton settles into the weave with each wash, becoming progressively smoother and softer over time. The viscose rayon embroidery thread is colourfast and maintains its depth wash after wash.

What is included in the quilt cover set?

Each set includes one quilt cover (also known as a duvet cover) and two standard pillowcases (50 × 75 cm), available in Queen, King and Super King sizes. The quilt cover features a concealed button closure, while the pillowcases are finished with an envelope closure. A flat sheet and additional pillowcases are available separately within the Classique Bed Linen.

Where does the embroidery sit on the duvet cover and pillowcases?

On the quilt cover, two satin stitch lines run down both sides and across the base, meeting at each lower corner in a defined corner motif. The underside of the cover is left plain, with the concealed button placket positioned on the reverse. On the pillowcases, the satin stitch continues along all four sides, with a corner motif at each corner. When the bed is fully made, the embroidery frames it from every angle.

Why a hidden button closure rather than a zip?

A zip requires a reinforced seam that interrupts the clean line of the embroidered base. Zips also introduce a rigid component into the fabricwhich over time they can warp, catch on the weave or fail under tension, particularly when the duvet insert is being put in or removed. The Classique quilt cover uses a hidden button closure instead. The buttons sit flush within a concealed placket on the back face at the bottom of the cover, away from the embroidered sides and base entirely. This placement protects the buttons from direct stress during use and washing, keeping them enclosed and reducing the risk of damage or snagging. They are not visible when the bed is made and have no effect on the embroidered design.

What size quilt insert fits this cover?

Use a quilt insert that matches the cover size. Queen insert for the Queen cover, King for King, Super King for Super King. Australian quilt insert dimensions are standardised to match these covers. Using an oversized insert will strain the button closure; using an undersized insert will cause the cover to bunch and lose its shape on the bed. For full sizing guidance see our Australian bed linen size guide.

Does this quilt cover work with the Classique flat sheet set?

Yes the Classique range is designed to layer together. The quilt cover and matching flat sheet set are cut from the same 400TC long-staple cotton sateen and use the same colourfast viscose rayon embroidery thread, so the embroidery reads consistently across the complete bed.

How visible is the white-on-white embroidery?

The white-on-white effect is created through raised satin stitch rather than tonal variation. The detail remains visible through light and shadow without relying on colour to define it. In natural light the embroidery reads clearly; in low light it becomes more subtle. It is a finish that changes with the room, never invisible, never assertive.
