Description
Navy sits as a darker alternative to white without introducing the weight of black. The tone holds depth while still reflecting light across the sateen surface, allowing the embroidery to shift subtly throughout the day rather than reading as a flat block of colour.
It works particularly well in spaces that already carry texture, timber, linen or stone, where the colour adds contrast without breaking the overall palette. The result is a bed that feels grounded but not heavy.

The pillowcase
The Classique pillowcases are cut from 400TC single-ply long-staple cotton sateen and sized at 50 × 75cm for a standard Australian pillow insert, 50 × 90cm for King, and 65 × 65cm for European. A top-stitched flange runs close to the embroidered border on all four sides, adding structure to the perimeter without bulk. The envelope closure sits on the reverse, leaving the front uninterrupted. The pillowcase softens progressively with each wash while holding its shape over time.
The embroidery
Two parallel satin-stitch lines in colourfast black viscose rayon thread run along all four sides of the front face, meeting at each corner in a defined corner motif. The high-contrast border is the most graphic expression within the Classique collection, precise and deliberate against the white cotton fabric, with the satin thread's sheen adding depth to the stitch.
Black on white is the sharpest reading of the Classique border. The pillowcases carry it fully.

Care
Wash cold or warm
30–40°C on a gentle cycle. Use liquid detergent only as powder detergents and fabric softeners coat the cotton fibres and gradually dull the sateen surface and reduce its natural breathability over time.
Tumble dry medium
Remove while still slightly damp. The sateen surface smooths naturally as the fabric cools, reducing the need for ironing. Avoid over-drying as heat-set creases are harder to remove than those from line drying.
Improves with washing
Long-staple cotton settles into the weave with each wash, becoming progressively smoother and softer over time. The viscose rayon embroidery thread is colourfast and maintains its depth wash after wash.

Where does the embroidery sit on the pillowcase?
The satin stitch runs along all four sides of the front face, with a corner motif at each corner. When the bed is fully made, the embroidery frames the pillowcase from every angle and continues the bordered design of the quilt cover.
Why a flange on the tailored pillowcase?
The flange does two things: it adds a structured perimeter that gives the pillowcase a tailored, hotel-style finish on the bed, and it positions the embroidered border slightly inset from the edge so the satin stitch is protected from direct friction at the seam. The top-stitching that secures the flange also reinforces the border area around the embroidery.
Does this pillowcase work with the Classique quilt cover set?
Yes all Classique pillowcases are cut from the same 400TC long-staple cotton sateen and use the same colourfast viscose rayon embroidery thread as the quilt cover set. The embroidery pattern is consistent across all pieces so the satin stitch reads as a continuous design across the full bed when the set is assembled.
What pillow insert fits this pillowcase?
Use a pillow insert that matches the pillowcase size 48 × 73 cm for tailored, 48 × 88 cm for king, 63 × 63 cm for euro. Using an oversized insert will strain the envelope closure and pull the embroidered border out of proportion; using an undersized insert will cause the pillowcase to look loose and shapeless. Is the Ebony stitch true black?
Yes the Ebony embroidery uses a true black viscose rayon thread with a high-lustre finish. Against white cotton sateen the contrast is sharp and graphic.
