A reversible bath mat woven in Turkey from a bamboo and cotton blend. One face is a dense, soft pile; the other is a twisted, coarser pile with more grip underfoot. A 1.2 cm recessed border is woven inside the edge of the soft face. 50 × 80 cm.

In White and Riverstone, the same colourways as the Cloud and Chevron towels. Bamboo cotton dries out faster than a heavy cotton mat, so it spends less time damp on a bathroom floor. A Flaxfield design dating from 2012.

Fabric & construction

Two faces, two jobs

The mat is woven differently on each side and does the same job in two ways. One face is a dense, soft pile, comfortable to stand on straight out of the shower. The other is a twisted, coarser pile that grips underfoot and holds its look in a bathroom in constant use. Turn it over whenever you want the other.

The border

A recessed border 1.2 cm wide is woven inside the edge of the soft face, set in from the hem. It gives the mat a defined perimeter rather than leaving it a plain rectangle, and because it is part of the weave rather than an applied trim there is nothing to lift or fray.

Care

Machine wash warm

Wash at 30–40°C with a mild liquid detergent, separately from clothing.

No fabric softener

Softener coats the pile and reduces how much water the mat takes up.

Tumble dry low or line dry

Shake the mat out first to lift both piles. Hang it over the bath or a rail between uses rather than leaving it flat on the floor.

Which side should face up?
Either. The dense soft pile is the more comfortable underfoot; the twisted pile grips better and shows wear less. Most people settle on one and turn the mat over when they want a change or while the other side dries.
How does it compare with a cotton bath mat?
It is lighter and dries out faster than a heavy cotton mat, and the reversible construction gives you two surfaces rather than one. A thick cotton mat holds more water, but it also stays damp longer, which is what makes a bathroom smell.
Does it match the Cloud and Chevron towels?
Yes. The mat is woven from the same bamboo cotton cloth in the same two colourways, White and Riverstone, so it sits with either towel design without matching one of them exactly.
