Selva Baby Alpaca Throw - Nickel

100% baby alpaca
Naturally soft
Lightweight warmth
Cool tonal finish

The Selva Baby Alpaca Throw in Nickel is a 100% baby alpaca throw, woven with a smooth, non-textured surface that places the focus entirely on the fibre. Without the lift of bouclé or surface texture, the finish is clean and controlled, allowing the cooler Nickel tone to sit with clarity across the bed or sofa. It’s suited to more minimal interiors, where material and proportion carry the detail rather than pattern or contrast.

Description

Nickel sits in a deeper tonal range, offering contrast without the weight of black, allowing it to define the bed while still maintaining a soft, textile-led finish. The bouclé surface lifts the colour, preventing it from appearing flat or overly dense.

Across the bed, it creates a more defined composition where the throw frames the space without overpowering it, with texture breaking up the depth of tone. It’s a colour that adds presence while remaining considered, particularly suited to layered or high-contrast settings.

The twill weave

The Selva Nickel throw is woven in Peru from 100% baby alpaca using a smooth, even weave that removes surface texture entirely. This allows the fibre quality to define the feel, resulting in a softer, lighter and more fluid drape. The absence of bouclé creates a cleaner silhouette across the bed or sofa.

The colour

Nickel is a cool, mid-grey tone that gives the Selva throw a more structured and contemporary feel. Without surface texture, the colour defines the entire piece, reading as clean and controlled rather than soft or diffused. It pairs naturally with white bedding, black accents, stone and cooler palettes, adding contrast without heaviness.

First-shear baby alpaca is the finest grade of alpaca fibre available. The difference in softness against the skin is immediate and unmistakable.

Hand wash only

Cool water with a mild wool detergent. Avoid powder detergents and fabric softeners — these coat natural fibres and reduce softness over time.

Do not tumble dry

Do not wring. Lay flat to dry away from direct sunlight to preserve the fibre structure and the shape of the weave.

Improves with care

Natural alpaca fibres soften progressively with each gentle wash. Correct care extends the life of the throw significantly.

Do alpaca throws shed or pill over time?

Alpaca fibres are longer and smoother than standard wool, which reduces pilling compared to shorter staple fibres. A small amount of initial shedding can occur with new throws, but this settles quickly with use and does not affect the structure or longevity of the fabric.

How should an alpaca throw be styled on a bed?

Alpaca throws are typically placed across the foot of the bed, either laid flat or folded lengthwise depending on the scale you want. On larger beds, they can be doubled for a more structured look, while on sofas they are often draped loosely to highlight the texture and fibre.

Is an alpaca throw suitable for year-round use?

Yes. Alpaca naturally regulates temperature, retaining warmth in cooler conditions while remaining breathable in milder weather. This makes it suitable for layering on the bed or using across the sofa throughout the year without feeling overly heavy.
